In the graphite processing industry, the flat-cutting of large-format sheets has long been plagued by two major pain points: first, fluctuations in hydraulic system oil temperature cause cutting thickness drift (with discrepancies between day and night operations often reaching 0.3–0.5 mm); and second, the intrusion of graphite dust into electrical and drive components leads to high failure rates.
The Zibo Hanlong GZ-200X350X40 gantry-style graphite flat-cutting saw offers a proven solution. Its core technical architecture is as follows:
1. Upgraded Drive System
Both the saw frame elevation and the worktable traverse utilize servo motors to drive ball screws, paired with precision linear guideways.
This effectively adapts the drive principles of CNC machine tools to the sawing machine. Factory-verified measurements show a positioning
error of ±0.15 mm over the worktable's 3-meter travel and an error of ≤0.1 mm over the 500 mm vertical travel. Compared to traditional hydraulic saws (which typically offer an accuracy of 0.3–0.6 mm per 3 meters), the accuracy is more than doubled, and the system is free from issues
related to thermal drift caused by oil temperature fluctuations.2. Flexibly adjustable sawing parameters
The sawing speed ranges from 300 to 1,500 m/min (controlled by a variable frequency drive), accommodating 54 × 1.6 mm bi-metal or carbide band saw blades. Powered by an 18.5 kW main motor, the machine is capable of medium-to-high-speed sawing of graphite materials. An automatic stop function upon blade breakage prevents damage to the workpiece caused by "air cutting."
3. Comprehensive Dust Protection Design
Electrical cabinet: Fully sealed with air conditioning to prevent the ingress of conductive dust while addressing heat dissipation within the
enclosed space.
Lead screws/guide rails: Stainless steel dust covers, automatic lubrication (grease injection based on travel distance), and block-mounted chip
scrapers ensure dynamic cleaning.
Protective covers: Equipped with a dedicated dust extraction port (compatible with standard-diameter piping).
Validation through eight months of continuous operation at a graphite plant confirmed no significant dust penetration on lead screw surfaces
and a clean interior within the electrical cabinet.
4. Structural Durability Details
All welded components undergo thermal aging (annealing) and shot blasting to eliminate internal stresses. The saw wheels feature 7075 aluminum cores with polyurethane tires, reducing rotational inertia and extending saw blade life by approximately 20–30%. The machine weighs around 11 tons and offers excellent structural rigidity.
Selection Recommendation: If you have strict graphite cutting tolerance requirements (e.g., ≤0.2 mm) or operate in a workshop with high dust levels, the servo-driven ball screw configuration is worth the additional investment. For rough cutting or blanking, a traditional hydraulic system is acceptable, though you must be prepared for precision fluctuations and more frequent maintenance.
